Srinagar, Feb 9, : Special Police Officers (SPO’s) Saturday appealed Jammu Kashmir Governor and Police Chief to make an amendment in existing SPOs regularization policy in the interest of those who have been serving the police department and the state.
A delegation from ‘All J&K Youth SPOs’ told news agency that Government has virtually snatched their right of living. They said that despite giving everything to the department, they get nothing. “The irony is that we can’t protest like other employees. The government has done grave injustice towards us. We all enjoy the same position of status despite variations in our educational qualifications. There is no difference in status, grade, position between a post graduate SPO or a matric pass,” they said.
“From 2015 the selection of SPOs was done on merit basis, but right now there is no rule or regularization Policy for such SPOs on qualification basis. We only get Rs200 to 300 per day for performing duties round to clock. Government is yet to decide the fate of those SPO’s who are on the verge of over-age. Even SPO’s with 10 years’ service have not been regularized,” they said adding their services are used during encounters with militants and yet they get nothing.
“We appeal the Governor Satya Pal Malik and Police Chief Dilbagh Singh to address our grievances without any delay,” they said.
