Srinagar, March 09 : Strongly reacting to National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) summon to the Kashmir’s chief cleric and senior Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Kashmir’s one of historical traders body Beopar Mandal Mahraj Gunj, Shahre Khass Traders and Manufacturers Coordination Committee and Jamia Market Traders Federation have called for two-day complete shutdown in and around Old City Srinagar from tomorrow (Sunday and Monday).

In a statement issued , the trade bodies said such kind of ‘nefarious designs’ to intimidate the people of Kashmir will not be tolerated at all and would be resisted tooth and nail.

The trade bodies said summoning Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Geelani is ‘totally undemocratic’ and won’t be tolerated by the people of Kashmir in general and the trader fraternity in particular. They said all the shops, transport, schools and offices will remain closed on Sunday and Monday against this ‘move’ by the NIA.

Meanwhile, hours after the NIA summoned Mirwaiz, the Hurriyat Conference (M) chief was placed under house arrest. Mirwaiz was placed under house detention at his Nigeen residence soon after a notice was issued to him NIA, asking him to appear before NIA court on Monday at New Delhi.
