Gunfight rages in Handwara after12hrs searches

Srinagar, March 28: Gunfight broke out between Government forces and militants on Thursday in Yaroo village of Langate, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district where earlier a search and cordon operation was launched.

Reports reaching said that contact has been established with the hiding militants after 12hrs of search in the area.

A senior Police officer also confirmed to GNS that contact has been established with the hiding militants and exchange of firing is on.

Yesterday in wake of the possibility of the gunfight, the authorities had snapped internet services in twin police districts of Handwara and Sopore.

Earlier, army’s 30 RR, 92 bn CRPF and SOG have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Yaroo village following specific information about the presence of two militant inside a residential house. (GNS)
