Shopian Encounter: Two militant killed, operation on

Srinagar, July 27: Two militants have been killed in ongoing operation after a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Bonbazaar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Official sources told that in initial exchange of firing two militant have been killed also there bodies have been recovered. Identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained. However the searches in the area are underway.

Earlier Gunfight broke out after a joint team of Army’s 23 Para and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Bonbazaar.

A senior police officer told that it was specific information on which cordon and search operation was launched. As the joint team of forces zeroed the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering an encounter, the officer said.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)
