Jamia Masjid imam demands lifting curbs on Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Jan 31 : Imam Hai of Jamia Masjid and Vice President Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Maulana Ahmad sayed Naqashbandi  today on the occasion of  Friday prayers held at  Jama Masjid srinagar , expressed concern at the continued detention of president Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid and Mirwaiz of Kashmir Mohammad Umar Farooq.

“ Mirwaiz is under arbitrary continued house detention since August 5 2019 by the state authorities, he said.  

Imam Hai said that Mirwaiz is the religious head of Muslims of Kashmir and incapacitating him from performing his religious duties as Mirwaiz and barring him from performing religious obligations as a Muslim of offering congregational Friday prayers is a violation of fundamental human rights.

He said that basic human and religious rights of entire people of Kashmir stand curbed.

He urged the authorities to release the Mirwaiz and allow him to lead the congregation prayers in Jamia Masjid.

 Imam hai also urged the authorities to release all prisoners including youth languishing in various jails across India. 

People present in the mosque also expressed their sadness and anger at Mirwaiz’s incarceration and protested, demanding his immediate release. They also demanded the release of all those incarcerated by the authorities, a statement said.

On the occasion in keeping with past practice, an elegant and classy Calendar for 1441 Hijri year 2020, was released.

It is a joint collaboration between Mirwaiz Foundation and Anjuma Auqaf Jama Masjid and contains daily prayer timings ,( Meeqat-ul- Salah) and Sehar and iftar timings.The calanders was distributed free on the occasion. 

People can get the calendar from Anjuman office in Jamia Masjid and at select supermarkets at Lal Chowk and civil lines area  free of cost.
