Cooperate with probe agencies, Govt direct Deptts

Srinagar, Mar 18 (KINS): The Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu led administration has asked all the government departments to cooperate with graft agencies to complete the probe in all the corruption cases.

Highly placed sources in the administration told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the Lieutenant Governor is himself monitoring the progress of the probe in corruption cases. “The LG has directed all the government departments to cooperate the probe agencies in completing the probe on schedule,” sources maintained.

Sources said that the government also plans to plug all the loopholes so that agencies face no hurdle in collecting evidence.

Sources said that majority of corruption cases pending with the investigation agencies were in food and civil supplies department followed by health, revenue, irrigation and PWD, government owned corporations.

Sources told KINS that recent ACB and Crime branch raids in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have left corrupt officers in a flurry.

 Both the ACB and Crime Branch has tightened noose around corrupt officers.

 It is to mention here that investigating agencies have clear instructions from the higher-ups to ensure that investigation into all the corruption cases as well as other pending FIRs is completed as expeditiously as possible so as to pave the way for presentation of challans in the Anti-Corruption Courts and securing maximum conviction.

Sources told KINS that after the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a sharp rise in registration of corruption cases against higher officials involved in alleged malpractices.

A senior officer of the ACB said that fresh cases were registered against those officers, who were of the opinion that they will never be touched after committing huge frauds due to their close proximity with the then ruling class of the erstwhile state.
