KINS Desk

Srinagar March 19 (KINS): Asking people to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Kondbarao Pole on Thursday said OPDs in tertiary care hospitals will operate only for emergency cases and patients having coronavirus symptoms.

“People should restrain from visiting hospitals unnecessary. They can visit primary health centres and district hospitals for minor ailments. They should visit tertiary care hospitals only in emergency cases or patients having coronavirus symptoms,” Pandurang told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) over phone.

“OPDs in tertiary care hospitals will continue to operate but for only severely ailment patients and those having symptoms of coronavirus,” he said.

OPD at SMHS Srinagar was partially closed on Thursday.

A doctor at SKIMS Soura said some people were unnecessary visiting tertiary care hospitals. “People suffering from minor ailments should instead visit health care centres so that tertiary care hospitals are left to deal with the crisis situation,” the official said.

The official said rush in OPDs was posing a threat spread of virus. “People should instead stay at home and take preventive measures,” the doctor said. (KINS)
