Srinagar, Apr 18 (KINS):With the Jammu and Kashmir police having registered First Information Report (FIR) against valley’s top businessman Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya for defying prohibitory orders, the Divisional commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma Saturday said that Inspector General of Police has been directed to speed up the enquiry.

“Police has already registered an FIR in this regard. I have directed the IGP to speed up the enquiry how he defied prohibitory orders imposed by the government to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus,” Sanjeev Verma said.
He said everything will come out who helped him to reach Srinagar amid such restrictions. “Our security forces struggle so much to make people understand the importance of staying home in this time of Coronavirus outbreak. Sometimes it becomes difficult to guard every exit point. But yes the enquiry will clear everything,” he maintained.

It is to mention here that the police had registered FIR against Chaya for defying restrictions imposed in Bathindi which has been declared as red zone by the authorities.
“An FIR number 109 has been registered under section 188 Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of Epidemics Diseases Act against Chaya for defying restrictions,” the police had said and disclosed that Chaya managed to reach his Zakura residence after violating the prohibitory orders.

Sources said that after the matter came into knowledge of Jammu police, they alerted higher-ups in J&K police as well as civil administration and police in Kashmir.
“ As intimated by Station House Officer Police Station Trikuta Nagar vide his signal dated 17.4.2020 that one person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya who was staying at Farooq Abdullah enclave Bathindi Jammu has deliberately left for Srinagar along with other persons from red zone Srinagar,” reads a document in possession of KINS.
