Srinagar, April 24 (KINS): Director SKIMS Soura Dr A H Ahangar said the hospital was receiving regular supply of personal protection equipment (PPE) and testing kits for coronavirus.
In an exclusive interview with news agency KINS, Dr Ahangar said there was a shortage of PPE across the world. “Some markets are running out of stock. But we have maintained the supply chain as much as possible. We are getting regular supply of PPE and testing kits for coronavirus.”
“We have even some people in Delhi who make purchases and ensure availability of these items. We are getting regular supply and hopefully to continue remain so. There has been some impact but we are trying to cope up with the situation and maintain the regular supply as much as possible,” he said.
He was reacting to reports that doctors, nurses, and paramedics were not getting proper protective gear as hospitals were running short of PPE.
The Director SKIMS also said they even conduct 600 tests each day. “Initially only 50 tests were being done. Now even 600 tests are being done based on the samples received by the hospital. We are enhancing our equipments to conduct more than 1000 tests,” he said.
Dr Ahangar recently also inaugurated coronavirus testing lab to perform tests through RT-PCR at SKIMS Bemina.
