Kulgam Police arrests 02 drug peddlers, contraband substances seized

May 11: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Kulgam arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Main Market Nehama, intercepted an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK18 – 6793 & arrested two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmad Malla resident of Mohammadpora and Mohd Ayoub Dar resident of Nillow Kulgam. Officers during checking were able to recover 36 Kgs of poppy straw from their possession.

Case FIR No. 65/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station D.H Pora and investigation into the matter has been initiated. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station D.H Pora where they remain in custody. Officers have also seized the Auto used in commission of crime.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
