Srinagar, May 19 : A gunfight broke out in Kanemazar area of Nawakadal in Srinagar district between militants and forces early this morning.
Reports reaching Kashmir Indepth said that a joint team of army’, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Kanemazar area of Nawakadal in Srinagar after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.
As per reports two militants are believed to be trapped.
A police officer also confirmed to Kashmir Indepth and said contact has been established with hiding militants and firing from both sides is on.
Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.
