Leading pulmonologist on forefront of Kashmir’s Covid-19 fight tests positive

Srinagar, June 2 : Covid-19 has cast a shadow on the top leadership of the Kashmir’s healthcare set-up as a leading pulmonologist and Head of Department, Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the novel coronavirus in the Valley, has tested positive for the pathogen.

Sources told that swab sample of the senior doctor, one of the top healthcare workers leading from the front in the fight against the disease, was taken on Monday afternoon and it returned positive late last night.

So far a number of doctors have tested positive for the virus in the Valley where the number of Covid-19 cases already surpassed 2600 mark while as many as 31 people including 27 from Valley and four from Jammu division have died so far. Only on Monday, a dentist, posted at government medical college here, tested positive for the virus. (GNS)
