Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam urges youth to participate in blood donation camps

Jammu June 13: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, observed every year on 14 June around the world, Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam, a media professional and blood donation activist, and President of the Young Blood Association, made an earnest appeal to the public to come forward and donate blood voluntarily.

Dr. Satwant said the observance serves as an important reminder of the value of voluntary blood donation and its role in saving precious lives. He urged people to visit the nearest government hospital blood bank in Jammu and Kashmir and donate blood for the benefit of patients in need. He stated that even a single unit of blood can make a life-saving difference in emergencies and called blood donation one of the noblest services to humanity.

He further emphasized that youth can play a significant role in promoting a culture of regular voluntary blood donation. According to him, young people possess the energy, awareness, and social influence needed to inspire others and strengthen community participation in this noble cause.

Dr. Rissam also noted that donated blood is essential for accident victims, surgical patients, thalassaemia patients, and others suffering from serious blood-related disorders. He said the Young Blood Association in Jammu and Kashmir remains committed to spreading awareness, encouraging voluntary donors, and serving humanity through sustained blood donation initiatives.
