Srinagar, August 07 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the Jammu division between August 9 and 11.
According to the latest weather forecast, one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places across J&K on August 7 and 8, with brief intense showers likely at a few places.
From August 9 to 11, the weather is expected to remain more active, with a few spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible in a few districts of the Jammu division, while brief intense heavy showers may also occur in some districts of the Kashmir division.
For August 12 to 17, the Meteorological Centre has predicted the possibility of light rain or thundershowers at many places, along with brief intense showers at a few locations.
The weather department has issued an advisory, warning of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers in a few districts during August 9–11.
It further cautioned that torrential rain and brief intense heavy showers could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas, besides causing waterlogging in low-lying locations.
People living in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow local administration advisories, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.(KINS)
