Srinagar, July 12 (KINS): With the surge in COVID-19 cases and complaints of non-compliance of safety guidelines, the authorities are likely to close the parks and gardens again in Kashmir.

Sources told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that the officials were busy deciding whether to keep the gardens and parks open in the valley. “It seems that the gardens and parks will be shut again in the Kashmir valley as the COVID- 19 situation is alarming,” sources claimed.
The authorities have already asked visitors to vacate picturesque Pahalgam.
The development comes after the administration decided to re-impose restrictions in view of a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The Baramulllah district administration in order has also restricted the people from going to the tourist places that include the famous Gulmarg.
Commissioner Secretary Department of Floriculture, Parks, and Gardens, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, when contacted for his comments over the issue, said, “You will know in this regard till evening”

Director tourism Nisar Ahmad told KINS that the need of the hour is to close down the tourist places. “Though we have not received any order from the government in this regard, I believe that tourist places should be closed for containment of COVID-19,” he said.

Authorities had closed tourist places in Kashmir to contain the spread of coronavirus.

However, recently the government opened public parks and gardens. Since then hundreds of people have been visiting tourist spots. (KINS)
