Awantipora Police organizes a half marathon run event; “Run for Fun”

Srinagar, Oct 11 (KINS): Police in Awantipora today organised a half marathon event; “Run For Fun” in which 134 boys/girls of different age groups of Police District Awantipora, District Pulwama, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Budgam participated.

The participants were flagged off by SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem – JKPS. The event started at 08:00 AM from DPL Crossing through national highway up to Ladhoo crossing and back. Both boys and girls were flagged off separately in two groups.

DIG SKR Anantnag, Atul tAwantipora Police organizes a half marathon run event; “Run for Fun”Kumar Goel-IPS was the Chief Guest on the occassion. He congratulated and appreciated all the participants for braving the early morning chill to participate in the event.

Later on, DIG SKR Anantnag also distributed cash prizes/mementos and certificates among the first twenty winners of the event. Moreover, special cash reward/certificates were given to eight girl participants as token of appreciation on the eve of National Girl Child Day. In the vote of thanks, Chief Guest expressed that Police is aimed to provide the sports platform for the youth to boost their sports activities in order to remain away from the drug abuse.

He also thanked the participants, media persons and all others for joining the event and making it successful.

At conclusion, SSP Awantipora expressed that Jammu and Kashmir Police is on fore front in organizing various sports events as it brings positive energy in the youth ,brings sports spirit, competitive spirit and good health . He further stated that more sports activities shall be organized in the Police District Awantipora in future.(KINS)
