Police arrests drug peddler in Awantipora; contraband substance recovered

Srinagar, Jan 17 (KINS): Police said that it arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

In a statement issued to news agency KINS police said, “Officers from Police Station Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Kaigam crossing Awantipora intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Khan resident of Machama Tral. During checking, officers were able to recover 4.40Kgs of grinded Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 13/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings”.(KINS)
