Kulgam Police arrests 6 gamblers, stake money seized

March 19 (KINS): Acting tough against social crimes, Kulgam Police have arrested six gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹5,700/- stake money.

A police party from Police Post Mirbazar under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund & SHO PS Qazigund raided a gambling site following an input about gambling activities at Palpora and apprehended six gamblers. They have been identified as Jitender Singh, Charan Singh, Ranjit Singh, Loki Singh, Karan Singh all residents of Palpora and Mohd Rafiq Kumar resident of Bumthan.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹5,700/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 52/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
