BJP alleges no security was provided to BJP sarpanch, his panch wife

Srinagar, Aug 9 (KINS) The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday evening alleged that no security or secure accommodation was provided to BJP sarpanch and his panch wife who were killed by militants in their rented house at Anantnag this afternoon.
BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur alleged despite repeated requests majority BJP leaders have not been provided any security or secure accommodation by the government.
Strongly condemning the killing of BJP sarpanch Ghulam Rasool Dar and his wife Jawahira (panch) from Redwani Kulgam in Lal Chowk Anantnag.
He questioned the police claim that Dar and his wife were provided secure hotel accommodation. No security or secure hotel accommodation was provided to the couple, he alleged.
The news of Dar came on a day when we were paying tributes to another BJP leader Abdul Hamid who was also killed by militants on this day in Badgam, Thakur said.
He said we again appeal to government and police to provide security and secure accommodation to leaders, including BJP, who are facing threat from militants. Dar unsuccessfully contested Assembly election as an independent candidate. However, he was elected as sarpanch and his wife panch as independent and later joined BJP.
