DC Anantnag issues closure orders for 05 illegal Crusher Units

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 04 ( KINS ): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla Saturday ordered immediate closure of five Stone Crushers operating unauthorizedly on state/ kahcharai land in Tehsil Anantnag and Qazigund.

Taking cognizance of illegal operation of stone crushers on state/ kahcharai land, the DC directed Tehsildars to close down the operation of these units within their jurisdictions.

The inhabitants of these villages had complained that the operation of these crusher units promotes illegal extraction of river bed material from the adjoining rivers and streams, which has choked irrigation facilities to the farmers.

Dr Singla asked the District Mineral Officer to calculate the royalty payable by the owners of these Crusher Units and ensure recovery of the government dues. He also issued directions to the Executive Engineers of KPDCL to snap the power supply to these units forthwith.
