DC Kupwara visits Farkiyan, convenes meeting with Brigade Commander, Farkiyan Brigade

KUPWARA, SEPT 20( KINS): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting with Brigade Commander, Farkiyan Brigade at Farkiyan to discuss various issues related to the development of Keran area and celebration of Keran Mela.

The DC was informed that the Mela is being held for 3 days from October 4 to October 6. He said the Mela is being conducted to highlight the scenic beauty of this far-flung and border area. He assured that all possible support from District Administration and Police will be provided to make the Keran Mela a successful event.

The DC asked everyone to participate in the Mela and enjoy the natural beauty of Keran. He said various programmes are in the pipeline to develop the Keran under border tourism.

On the way back to Kupwara, the DC met various roadside deputations and gave a patient hearing to their pleas. He assured them timely resolution of demands.

The DC also inspected the under construction road from Lone Harie to Holy village.  He also inspected the under-constructed bridge where people informed that the abetments of the bridge had been constructed years ago and demanded its early completion.

At Khairgund Bridge connecting various villages, people also demanded construction of a motorable bridge where the earlier foot bridge was damaged in flash floods.

The DC assured them all possible support from the Administration.
