Shopian Police seizes illicit timber, two arrested

April 22:  Police in Shopian arrested two timber smugglers and seized illicit timber.

Acting on specific information officers from Police Station Keller intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK18- 2057 in Takwan, Moshwara area of Keller district Shopian and seized 08 logs of illicit timber from the vehicle. Two persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad lone and Manzoor Ahmad Baba both residents of Nasarpora who were boarding in the vehicle have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Keller where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

A case FIR No. 15/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Keller & investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
