Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Awantipora; Contraband substances recovered

 

Srinagar ,Oct 27 ( KINS ): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Khrew during daily routine checking at Wahabsahab Khrew intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01M-7814 with four persons on board. They have been identified as Sahil Ahmed Jogi son of Manzoor Ahmed Jogi resident of Mattan Anantnag, Mohd Iqbal Bhat son of  Ab Salam Bhat resident of Wahab Sahab, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh son of  Ab Gani Sheikh and Ajaz Ahmed Sheikh son of Ab Rehman Sheikh both residents of Shar Shali. During checking, officers were able to recover 11kgs of contrabands substances (5kgs Poppy Straw and 6kgs Cannabis) from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 76/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khrew and further investigation is in progress.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.( KINS)
