Srinagar, Dec 15: In a proactive move to combat the escalating issue of drug trafficking, the Police in Baramulla successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized a significant amount of contraband substance during a recent operation.
The operation was carried out by a police party from the Pattan Police Station, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) at a checkpoint in Shirpora Pattan. Their vigilance paid off when they intercepted a suspicious individual, later identified as Gh Mohiuddin Ganie, son of Late Ab Raheem and a resident of Shirpora Pattan.
A thorough search of Ganie’s belongings revealed a concealed stash of approximately 12 kilograms of a substance resembling Bhung Patri. Promptly, Ganie was arrested and subsequently transported to the police station, where he remains in custody.
In response to this incident, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law at the Police Station Pattan. Further investigations are underway to delve into the details of the drug peddling activities and any potential connections.
The police authorities took the opportunity to remind the public of their crucial role in maintaining community safety. They urged citizens to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing emergency services at 112. Cooperation from the public is seen as instrumental in curbing the menace of drugs and ensuring the overall well-being of society.
