Sonamarg Makes History with Inaugural SnowShe Winter Sports Event

Srinagar Jan 01: Sonamarg hosted its first major SnowShe winter sports event, organized under the auspices of the SnowShoe Federation of India. The event, which unfolded against the breathtaking backdrop of snow-clad mountains, witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students and sports clubs, adding a vibrant energy to the snowy landscape.
The SnowShe winter sports event aimed to promote and celebrate the unique thrill of snowshoeing, a sport gaining popularity for its combination of athleticism and connection with nature. Participants showcased their skills and determination in navigating the snowy terrains of Sonamarg, creating a memorable spectacle for both competitors and spectators.
Amidst the chilly festivities, Alyas Nasir, CEO of the Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA), took center stage to acknowledge the efforts of the participants and distribute certificates among the deserving winners. Nasir expressed his delight at the success of the event, emphasizing the importance of promoting winter sports to tap into the region’s potential as a sports tourism destination.
The participants, comprising students and sports clubs from the region, displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The SnowShoe Federation of India played a pivotal role in organizing the event, ensuring that it met international standards and contributed to the growing recognition of snowshoeing as a competitive and enjoyable winter sport.
