IGP Kashmir, V. K. Birdi, Conducts Thorough Inspection of Police Establishments in Awantipora, Advocates Transparent and People-Friendly Policing

Srinagar, Jan 10: In a proactive move towards ensuring the efficiency and transparency of policing in the region, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi-IPS, undertook a comprehensive inspection of police establishments in Awantipora. The visit, conducted today, included a detailed examination of Police Station Tral and Police Post Aripal, with a focus on reinforcing people-friendly and transparent policing practices.
Accompanying the IGP were prominent figures, including DIG SKR Anantnag, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, and SSP Awantipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, along with other senior officers from the Police District.

During the inspection, critical elements were scrutinized, encompassing crime data and statistics within the jurisdiction, the effectiveness of ongoing initiatives, areas for improvement, the functioning of the Woman Help Desk, Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems, reporting systems, and accommodation facilities for jawans. IGP Birdi engaged in a detailed interaction with the personnel at both Police Station Tral and Police Post Aripal, actively seeking insights into their experiences and challenges.

Emphasizing the importance of creating a conducive and secure environment for those dedicated to ensuring public safety, IGP Birdi commended the dedication and hard work exhibited by the Police personnel. He encouraged continuous efforts to enhance community safety and stressed the need for adopting comprehensive countermeasures to tackle terror-related incidents.

Addressing the ongoing security threats, the IGP urged vigilance against suspicious elements providing support to terrorist activities. He highlighted the significance of keeping such elements under constant radar to foil their attempts and prevent untoward incidents. Additionally, IGP Kashmir stressed the imperative need for stringent action against individuals involved in anti-peace activities.

Throughout the visit, IGP Birdi emphasized the importance of better management of Police Station records, urging officials to adhere to organized and accessible documentation as per laid-down rules for efficient policing. In a bid to enhance community engagement, he encouraged officials to bolster interactions with the public, underlining the importance of fostering a strong and positive relationship between the police force and the community it serves. This strategic approach aims at not only ensuring the safety and security of the people in the area but also strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community it diligently serves.
