Srinagar, Mar 01: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Central Election Committee meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, concluded at 3 AM at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
The marathon session, also graced by Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda, focused on deliberating candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sources indicate a strategic emphasis on selecting candidates for Jammu and Kashmir constituencies. The meeting reviewed a list of candidates presented by the Jammu and Kashmir BJP Election Committee, with the final selection to be made by the party’s High Command. This meticulous approach underscores the BJP’s commitment to aligning candidates with its values and vision.
The party anticipates releasing approximately 100 candidate names soon. Prime Minister Modi is slated to address an election rally in Srinagar on March 7, underscoring efforts to engage with voters in Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite the region’s transition to a union territory, it remains pivotal for national parties, with the BJP eyeing all five Lok Sabha seats.
Emphasis is on securing victory in previously held seats and in the newly created Rajouri-Poonch-Anantnag Lok Sabha seat following the delimitation process.(KNS)
