Government College of Education, Jammu, Declared Tobacco-Free Campus

JAMMU, APRIL 23: Government College of Education (GCOE) in Jammu has taken a significant step towards promoting a healthier environment by declaring its campus as tobacco-free. Following a series of awareness events organized by the NCORD committee and the Innovation and Incubation Centre (IIC) of GCOE, Jammu, under the National Tobacco Control Program, the college administration announced the tobacco-free zone status today.
The initiative included various activities such as a pledge to refrain from tobacco and its products, an awareness rally, and the installation of signage boards across the college premises. Over 50 students and 20 staff members actively participated in these events, demonstrating their commitment to a tobacco-free campus.
Dr. Jyoti Parihar, providing guidance and leadership, sensitized students about the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption. Prof. Sunanda Rani, Convenor of IIC and NCORD committee, along with committee members Prof. Roopa Kumari, Prof. Kiran Thapa, and Dr. Shalini Sharma, spearheaded the organization of these impactful events, aiming to create a healthier and tobacco-free environment within the college premises.
