Srinagar,May 03: A musical extravaganza titled ‘Jashn e Jugalbandi’ orchestrated under the auspices of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) illuminated the Polo View market on Thursday evening. The event, organized by the District Election Office, witnessed a convergence of esteemed dignitaries and enthusiastic attendees.
Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Jammu & Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, graced the occasion as the chief guest, alongside District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din, and other prominent officials. Renowned artists enthralled the audience with soulful renditions of sufi songs, incorporating the captivating harmony of Jugalbandi, with highlights including timeless classics like “Sanson ki Maala” and “Chaap Tilak” interwoven with motivational voter lyrics.
Addressing the gathering, CEO Pole emphasized the imperative of voter participation in shaping the democratic process, particularly urging the youth to exercise their franchise during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections on 13th May 2024. He commended the talent showcased by Kashmiri youth and students, applauding their pivotal role in fostering voter awareness and civic engagement.
The ambiance was further elevated with vibrant decorations adorning the historic Polo View Market, setting the stage for an immersive cultural experience. Attendees were captivated by the mesmerizing sufi performances, resonating with the spirit of the event.
In recognition of their contributions, students and guest performers were felicitated by the chief guest, while symbolic gestures such as releasing Tricolour balloons and unveiling an election mascot served to invigorate and inspire attendees towards active participation in the electoral process.
