Srinagar June 14 (KINS): The Indian Army organized the Subedar Harka Bahadur Volleyball Championship in Chanigound village to commemorate the Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Sixteen teams from different villages participated in the tournament, showcasing the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
Padma Shri Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat graced the event as the Chief Guest, with Brigade 121 Infantry Brigade serving as the guest of honor.
The tournament culminated in a thrilling final match between Friends Pashkum and Baltistan Warriors, with Friends Pashkum emerging victorious. Chief Guest Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat later distributed trophies and certificates to the winners and runners-up.
Speaking to the media, Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat emphasized that the championship not only celebrated athletic excellence but also paid homage to the valor and sacrifices of the Kargil heroes.
This initiative by the Indian Army underscores its commitment to promoting sports among local communities while honoring the indomitable spirit of the armed forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
