Srinagar, July 05: Continuing its efforts to eradicate drug menace from society, the police in Sopore have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
A police team from Police Station Tarzoo, led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a bag at a checkpoint established at Pethseer crossing. During the search, the police recovered 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the bag. The individual has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Yatoo, son of Ghulam Rasool Yatoo, a resident of Sangrama Sopore. He has been arrested and taken into custody at the Police Station.
A case has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo under FIR No. 61/2024, and further investigation is underway.
The police urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes to the nearest police establishment or by dialing 112. The community is encouraged to cooperate with the police to help eradicate the drug menace. The police reassure the community that they will take strict action against criminals according to the law.
