Srinagar, July 07: Dr. Arshad Hussain, a renowned psychiatrist and professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College Srinagar, has been appointed as Guest Editor for the prestigious journal “Discover Mental Health” by Springer Nature, a leading global academic publisher.
“Discover Mental Health” is an open-access journal indexed in PubMedCentral and SCOPUS, celebrated for its extensive coverage of mental health topics. The journal spans a variety of trans-disciplinary fields, including theoretical and fundamental sciences, clinical sciences, public health, and the socioeconomic, biological, and environmental factors that impact mental health.
As global momentum builds for the integration of mental health into policies and actions to prevent and control non-communicable diseases (NCDs), Dr. Hussain will spearhead a new series for the journal titled “Digital Innovations, Mental and Behavioral Health Strategies to Reduce the Burden of Non-communicable Diseases in Diverse Geographies and Populations.” This series aims to highlight novel digital interventions and innovations that have the potential to significantly enhance human health and well-being.
With over two and a half decades of research experience, Dr. Hussain also serves as a professor at the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) Kashmir. He has previously been a Guest Editor for the Journal of Medical Sciences’ COVID-19 issue.
In addition to his role at Springer Nature, Dr. Hussain is an editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Psychiatry and serves as Assistant Editor of the Indian Journal of Social Psychiatry. He joins other distinguished psychiatrists, including Prof. B.N. Gandhar, head of the National Medical Commission, in these roles.
