Srinagar, Aug 15: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the administration’s resolve to prevent any resurgence of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, Sinha urged the people of Jammu to collaborate with security forces to eliminate terrorism from the region.
Sinha acknowledged recent security challenges, including an encounter in Doda where an army captain and a foreign terrorist lost their lives, and commended the Jammu and Kashmir police for their valor and professionalism.
He also highlighted significant advancements in development over the past five years, noting that marginalized communities, including SCs, STs, OBCs, Valmikis, and PoJK-WPRs, now have full rights and live with dignity.
The Lieutenant Governor reported a notable increase in tourism following the G-20 meeting in Srinagar in May 2023, with over 1 crore tourists visiting the UT by mid-year and expectations for record arrivals by year’s end.
Sinha announced that for the first time, the Amarnath cave shrine and Gurez are connected to the power grid and revealed plans to enhance the J&K Industrial Policy with more industry-friendly features. He also shared news of J&K Bank’s financial recovery, transforming from a loss-making entity in 2019 to a profitable institution that serves the entire community.
