Srinagar, Aug 20: In a remarkable initiative aimed at encouraging positive engagement among the youth and empowering budding cricketers, the Gen Bipin Rawat Memorial Cricket Tournament 2024 concluded in the scenic Baramulla District.
The prestigious event was organized under the patronage of the Dagger Division of the Chinar Corps.
The tournament, played in the T20 format, ran from July 15 to August 19, 2024, showcasing the passion and talent of young cricketers across the region. An impressive 64 teams participated in 75 fiercely contested matches over a span of 35 days, culminating in a gripping finale on August 19. More than 1,500 young cricketers took part, drawing an audience of over 2.5 lakh viewers.
In the electrifying final match, held at the Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium, BCC Reds emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 2 runs, etching their name in the tournament’s history.
The event concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Gen Bipin Rawat Stadium, where the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dagger Division honored the winning teams and individual awardees. In his closing remarks, the GOC encouraged the participants to embrace the opportunities provided by the Indian Army’s sporting events and strive for excellence in their endeavors.
