Jammu Sep 06 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections in a grand event attended by key party leaders in Jammu.
Present at the function were J&K BJP Chief Ravinder Raina, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Tarun Chugh, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Devinder Singh Raina, Jugal Kishore.
During his speech, Shah emphasized the significance of Jammu and Kashmir to the nation, recalling its historical importance.
“Since Independence, Jammu and Kashmir has been special to us. We have always worked to keep J&K an integral part of India. From 2014 to 2024, these ten years will be remembered in history for the peace, increased tourism, and decline in terrorism that we have witnessed,” Shah stated as per news agency KINS.
The Home Minister highlighted the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A as a turning point in J&K’s history, expressing confidence that they will never be reinstated.
“The abrogation of these articles marked the end of an era of terrorism and the beginning of a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have returned peace to the region.”
Shah outlined several achievements of the BJP government, including the establishment of 59 new colleges and significant investments in infrastructure such as hydroelectric projects like the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul project.
He promised further development under the BJP, with plans to build 10,000 kilometers of roads and introduce a metro system if the party is voted into power.
“Tourism will also be a key focus,” Shah said, announcing plans to turn Rajouri into a premier tourist destination surpassing Pahalgam. “We will work to restore the beauty of Dal Lake and develop new attractions, including an amusement park at Tota Ground.”
Shah as per news agency KINS also underscored the BJP’s commitment to women empowerment, asserting that the party’s manifesto is designed to benefit all sections of society in J&K.
He reaffirmed the government’s stance on reservation issues, promising to protect the rights of marginalized communities, including Gujjars and Bakerwals.
Addressing security issues, Shah as per KINS praised the Modi-led government for reducing incidents of stone pelting and restoring peace. “Under our government, after 30 years, cinemas have reopened, and peaceful religious processions.
In a sharp critique of the National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance, Shah questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s position on NC’s agenda of “freeing separatists and stone pelters”. “The Congress cannot answer whether it supports the NC’s dangerous policies. We must prevent these parties from taking J&K backward,” Shah warned.
Concluding his speech, Shah as per news agency KINS, urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to vote for the BJP and continue on the path of development and peace. “Only Prime Minister Modi can deliver a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir and bring progress to the region,” he said.
J&K BJP Chief Ravinder Raina praised Shah for his efforts, saying, “Our Home Minister has played a pivotal role in bringing development and peace to Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.”
Dr. Nirmal Singh called it a historic day for J&K, thanking Shah for his dedication to the region’s progress and the release of a manifesto that addresses the aspirations of its people.(KINS)
