Dussehra celebrated with great fervor in Jammu

KINS DESK

Srinagar, Oct 12 (KINS): Dussehra, the festival symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, was celebrated with immense religious fervor and enthusiasm across the Jammu region on Wednesday. The grand celebration, which marks Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana, saw a large gathering of devotees who came together to witness the traditional burning of effigies.
The main function was held at Parade Ground in Jammu, where towering effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbkaran, and his son Meghnath were consigned to flames, a symbolic gesture of the victory of righteousness. The event was organized by the Sanatan Dharam Sabha, a key religious and cultural organization in the region.
Amidst chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” the effigies were set ablaze, lighting up the evening sky. The sight of the burning effigies, accompanied by fireworks, filled the air with excitement and spiritual energy.
Speaking at the event, a representative from the Sanatan Dharam Sabha emphasized the significance of Dussehra. “This festival reminds us that no matter how powerful evil may seem, it is always vanquished by truth and goodness. Ravana’s defeat is not just a mythological event but a message to society to uphold moral values and justice,” he said.
Devotees from all walks of life attended the celebration, with families and children enjoying the festivities. Many attendees highlighted the cultural importance of the festival and its relevance today. “Dussehra teaches us to face our challenges with courage and to always stand on the side of what is right,” said Rajesh Sharma, a local resident attending the event with his family.
The vibrant celebration not only captured the religious essence of Dussehra but also brought people together to celebrate unity, courage, and the values of righteousness.(KINS)
