Killing of two highly trained terrorists in Halkan Gali a major setback for terrorist groups: Army

KINS DESK

Srinagar, Nov 02 (KINS): The Indian Army Saturday said that the killing of two highly trained terrorists during an encounter in Halkan Gali, Anantnag has delivered a major setback to terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and PAF Group.

News agency KINS reported that Brigadier Anirudh Chauhan, Commander of 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, along with Javid Ahmad Matoo, DIG of South Kashmir, spoke to the media about the successful operation. Brigadier Chauhan praised the bravery of the soldiers and police officers involved, saying, “I want to congratulate the brave soldiers of the Indian Army and J&K Police for their remarkable courage. This operation shows our dedication to maintaining peace and security in Kashmir.”

The operation, called Operation Halkan Gali, began after reports suggested that militants were in the Larnu area. The joint forces, which included the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, 1 Para Special Forces, 7 Para Special Forces, and J&K Police, surrounded the area and engaged in a fierce gunfight with them. The terrorists, armed with heavy weapons such as an M4 rifle and AK-47, fired at the forces but were ultimately neutralized.

Brigadier Chauhan noted that the two killed were high-profile militants. “One of them, Arbaaz Mir, had trained in Pakistan and was involved in attacks on security forces. By eliminating them, we have significantly impacted groups like LeT and the Pakistan-based PAF Group.”

Both had been involved in recent violent incidents in South Kashmir, including the killing of an Indian Army rifleman, Hilal Ahmad.

In response to concerns about the increase in militant activity, Brigadier Chauhan assured, “We are fully prepared to tackle any threat. The quick success of this operation shows how well our security forces work together.”(KINS)
