Slain VDGs’ bodies discovered; intensive search operation launched in Kishtwar to capture terrorists

Srinagar Nov 8 ( KINS ): The bodies of two Village Defence Guards (VDGs), who were abducted and executed by terrorists, were found near a rivulet in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Friday. The discovery was made during a massive search operation launched by security forces.
According to officials, the two VDG members, Nazir Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, were abducted on Thursday in the higher reaches of Kishtwar and executed by terrorists. Their bodies were discovered in the Pondgwari area of the Keshwan belt, near a rivulet. The authorities have initiated a joint search operation involving the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the dense forest area, focused on the Kuntwara, Ohli, and Munzla Dhar hilly regions.
The tragic killings have sparked widespread condemnation, including from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and political leaders from the PDP, Congress, and BJP. Security forces have intensified efforts with drones, sniffer dogs, and even helicopters deployed to locate the terrorists responsible for the attack.
The two VDGs, who were from the Ohli-Kuntwara area, had gone to graze livestock in the Munzla Dhar forest but went missing. Their bodies were later found, and family members confirmed their identities. Social media circulated images of the victims, blindfolded and executed.
Kashmir Tigers, a faction linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group, claimed responsibility for the killings. This marks an escalation of terror activities in Kishtwar and other Jammu region districts such as Rajouri, Poonch, and Doda, where militancy has seen a resurgence this year.
In response to the killings, protests erupted in Kishtwar, with locals demanding swift action against the terrorists to restore peace and confidence. Hundreds of residents in Drabshalla blocked roads and burned tyres in defiance.( KINS)
