Resolution on special status sent to authorities, says J&K Assembly Speaker

Srinagar, Nov 11 ( KINS ) : Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather announced today that the Assembly’s resolution for restoring the Union Territory’s special status has been sent to the relevant authorities. The resolution, initially passed on August 5, urged a dialogue for the “restoration of special status and constitutional guarantees” through established constitutional mechanisms. This resolution, passed by voice vote, received support from all political parties except the BJP.
“We forwarded the resolution to the concerned authorities the same day it was passed,” Rather informed media in Srinagar. Clarifying his role, he added, “I am non-aligned and have no political affiliations; any further questions on the resolution should be directed to the political parties.”

When asked about recent security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir amid a change in governance, Rather noted that law and order fall under central government jurisdiction. He also conveyed that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has instructed security forces to strengthen the security apparatus to prevent further incidents.( KINS )
