Inquiry launched into alleged medical negligence at Handwara district Hospital

Srinagar, Dec 10 (KINS): Authorities have started a formal inquiry into the recent death of Ab. Hamid Sofi, son of Gh Rasool Sofi, a resident of Arampora, Drugmullar, amid suspicions of medical negligence at the District Hospital Handwara in Kupwara district.
The incident came to light following reports on social media, sparking public concern. According to an official order, a dedicated inquiry committee has been established to investigate the matter.
The inquiry is being spearheaded by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) of Kupwara, with the inclusion of Dr. Mubashir, MD Physician from SDH Sogam, and Dr. Gulzar, MS General Surgery from SDH Kupwara, as part of the investigation team.
The order specifies that the committee will thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the death and deliver their report, along with actionable recommendations, within seven days. The Medical Superintendent of the District Hospital Handwara has also been directed to support the investigation, ensuring transparency and impartiality throughout the process.
