Srinagar, Dec 12 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today paid rich tributes to General Zorawar Singh, one of India’s greatest military strategists, on his Martyrdom Day.
The tribute ceremony was organized by the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
Speaking at the event, the Lieutenant Governor praised General Zorawar Singh’s military campaigns in Ladakh, Baltistan, and Tibet, emphasizing his vital role in expanding the Dogra Empire. He described General Zorawar Singh as a source of inspiration whose leadership united millions in the pursuit of equitable growth.
“General Zorawar Singh’s vision and values guide us to work for those sections of society that have been left behind. His life and work continue to inspire us to ensure that everyone benefits from progress,” said LG Sinha.
The Lieutenant Governor also shared the government’s efforts, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to honor such great personalities and the ongoing transformation in Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring equality and social justice for all.
“Public welfare is my ‘Dharma’ and ‘Kartavya.’ The government is working to ensure that the benefits of development reach every section of society without any discrimination,” LG Sinha stated.
Highlighting the accelerated pace of infrastructure development over the past five years, the Lieutenant Governor noted that
numerous projects, stalled for decades, were fast-tracked to benefit the people. “The ideals of democracy and the values enshrined in the Constitution are now central to our governance process,” he added.
On the occasion, LG Sinha appreciated the efforts of the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust for educating the younger generation about the legacy of General Zorawar Singh. He also urged the youth to serve society selflessly and contribute to nation-building, expressing confidence that together, they would work toward realizing the vision of a Developed India.
Present at the event were Ms. Shagun Parihar, Member of Legislative Assembly from Kishtwar, Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sh. Devinder Singh Kaluria, Chairman of the General Zorawar Singh Memorial Trust, and other dignitaries, including senior officials from the Army, Civil, and Police Administration, as well as students and prominent citizens.(KINS)
