Srinagar, Dec 14 (KINS): Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the BJP’s growing prominence in Jammu and Kashmir during the “India Economic Conclave” organized by Times Now at Bharat Mandapam. Despite not forming the government in J&K, Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that the BJP secured a higher vote share than the ruling National Conference in the recent Legislative Assembly elections. He attributed this to narrow losses in some constituencies and an increase in support from the Muslim-majority Kashmir Valley.
The Union Minister accused the Congress of propagating false narratives about the BJP in J&K, similar to its tactics in the Northeast. However, he emphasized that the people of J&K, like those in the Northeast, now recognize the BJP as the only party capable of ensuring justice for all. Recalling earlier times when BJP’s name was taboo in the Valley, he said, “Today, our election campaigns in Kashmir are as vibrant as in any other part of India.”
Shifting to the Conclave’s theme, “Indian Economy,” he underscored the need to adopt global strategies to achieve India’s 2047 economic vision. He highlighted India’s
underutilized Space, Marine, and Himalayan resources as critical growth drivers, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for significant advancements in these sectors.
Dr. Jitendra Singh detailed the transformative progress in India’s space sector, noting its leap since 2014 when the sector opened to private players. India now contributes 8-9% to the global space economy, with its economic footprint expected to triple in the next decade.
“Since 2014, India has launched over 432 satellites, with 397 launched under PM Modi’s leadership,” he said, adding that ISRO’s capabilities rival global agencies. He revealed plans for India to establish its own space station by 2035, further cementing the nation’s role as a space economy leader.
On J&K, he described the BJP’s best-ever performance in the recent elections as a sign of its rising acceptance. He also highlighted the return of normalcy, as evidenced by over two crore tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley.(KINS)
