December 26: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Shopian Police have attached a double-storey residential property valued at ₹14,76,579 and seized ₹6 lakh in cash from notorious drug peddler Farooq Ahmad Koka, son of Ghulam Mohammad Koka, a resident of Melhura Zainapora. The action was carried out under Sections 68-E and 68-F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The property attachment and cash seizure are linked to FIR No. 36/2024 at the Zainapora Police Station. The operation was conducted in full compliance with legal protocols, with the presence of a duly constituted police team and the Executive Magistrate.
The seized assets were found to be illegally acquired through illicit drug trafficking. This move underscores the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s continued commitment to combat the drug menace in the region. The local community has applauded the initiative, recognizing the importance of targeting the financial gains of drug peddlers.
