Srinagar, Dec 30(KINS): Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan Monday visited prominent landmarks in Srinagar, including the historic Clock Tower at Lal Chowk and the Balidan Stambh at Pratap Park.
News gathering agency KINS reported that the visit took place after he chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in the Kashmir Valley.
The meeting brought together senior officials from various security agencies to assess the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially with the onset of the winter season and fresh snowfall.
The meeting was attended by top police officers and other key personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, as well as central security agencies.
The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the security preparedness in the region as it enters the busy winter tourist season, while also addressing potential threats posed by the fresh snowfall in higher reaches.
The Balidan Stambh, inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha earlier this year on Independence Day, is a significant memorial honoring the sacrifices of soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. Situated at Pratap Park, the monument stands as a tribute to the courage and dedication of the armed forces. Its location in the heart of Srinagar makes it an important site for reflection and remembrance.
The visit to Lal Chowk’s historic Clock Tower also holds symbolic importance. Lal Chowk has been a site of political and historical relevance, often associated with key events in Jammu and Kashmir’s history (KINS)
