14 foreign terrorists neutralized, 13 terror modules dismantled in 2024: Jammu Zone Police

Srinagar, Jan 01 (KINS): The Jammu Zone Police shared their key achievements for 2024, showing their strong efforts in fighting ‘terrorism, crime, and drug trafficking’.
The previous year as per police, saw big improvements in making the region safer and reducing criminal activities.
According to the police details available with news gathering agency KINS, 14 foreign terrorists were killed and 13 terror modules were broken up in areas like Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, and Kathua.
“These actions severely weakened terrorist networks, disrupted their plans, and helped make the region more secure,” police said.
In a major crackdown on Overground Workers (OGWs)—individuals supporting terrorist operations—the police said it conducted 827 operations, a dramatic increase from 282 in 2023. Additionally, 180 individuals were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) to curb terror-related activities effectively.
Efforts to tackle drug trafficking also saw significant progress.
Over 42 kilograms of heroin were seized, and 84 properties linked to drug-related cases were identified and confiscated.
These actions are part of a larger initiative aimed at addressing the growing drug menace in the region.
Crime statistics revealed a positive trend, with 2,611 fewer criminal cases reported in 2024 compared to the previous year. There was a notable reduction in property theft, vehicle theft, and bovine smuggling, signaling the effectiveness of ongoing crime control measures.
To address emerging challenges, the police introduced several reforms:A Drug De-addiction Centre was inaugurated to combat substance abuse.
10 Cyber Cells were established to tackle cybercrimes.
67 personnel received specialized training in handling cybercrimes.
The Jammu Zone Police as per KINS emphasized that these measures, coupled with their consistent operations, have significantly enhanced public safety and stability in the region.
“Overall, 2024 marked a transformative year for Jammu Zone, reflecting the dedication of law enforcement agencies to ensure a safer and more secure environment for the citizens”. (KINS)
