Srinagar, Jan 02 (KINS): In light of the rising number of cancer cases in Jammu and Kashmir, Member Legislative Assembly Kulgam, M. Y. Traigami has called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to fast-track the clearance of pending cases, under the Cancer Treatment and Management Fund for the Poor (CTMFFP).
Traigami’s appeal comes after he revealed that financial assistance under the scheme has been halted since July 2024, leaving many poor cancer patients struggling to afford the necessary treatment.
“Amidst the ballooning number of cancer cases in J & K , the financial assistance provided to patients under Cancer Treatment and Management Fund for Poor( CTMFFP) scheme has been halted since July 2024, leaving poor patients struggling to afford treatment. I Urge Chief Minister OmarAbdullah to expedite the clearance of pending cases and ensure that adequate funds are allocated to support these patients,” Tarigami said, as per news gathering agency KINS.
The suspension of funds has exacerbated the difficulties faced by families already burdened by the high costs of cancer care.
With a growing number of patients requiring immediate assistance, Traigami emphasized the urgent need for adequate allocation of resources to ensure that these patients receive the support they desperately need.
He urged the government to prioritize healthcare funding, particularly for cancer patients, and to resolve the financial obstacles hindering treatment.(KINS)
