LG attends passing out parade of Probationer Dy SPs at Udhampur Police Academy
Udhampur, Jan 07 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the Passing Out Parade of 61 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) at the Police Academy, Udhampur, urging the young officers to embrace innovative methods and proactive policing to tackle modern security challenges.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the graduating officers and emphasized their crucial role in maintaining internal security, combating terrorism, upholding the Rule of Law, and ensuring a safe environment for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Terror-Free Jammu Kashmir Is Our Resolve”
Highlighting the commitment to a terror-free and fear-free Jammu and Kashmir, LG Sinha acknowledged the sacrifices of J&K Police and security forces. He stressed the importance of dismantling the ecosystem supporting terrorism and separatism through improved coordination between police and other security agencies.
“Modern technology, including Artificial Intelligence, has transformed the security landscape, but challenges like disinformation, deep fakes, and cyber threats demand innovative approaches. The J&K Police must adopt these tools to counter emerging threats effectively,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon the young officers to lead efforts against narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and radicalization. He highlighted the growing threats of social media weaponization, disinformation campaigns, and narco-terrorism to societal harmony and internal security.
Underlining the need to shift from reactive to proactive policing, LG Sinha urged the officers to anticipate changes in criminal tactics and use advanced technology for real-time monitoring and swift responses. He emphasized the importance of thorough investigations and successful prosecutions in strengthening law enforcement outcomes.
“Policing goes beyond neutralizing terrorists; it includes eliminating divisive elements and those aiding terrorism and separatism,” the Lieutenant Governor added.
The event saw the Lieutenant Governor inspecting the parade and taking the ceremonial salute. He administered the oath to the probationary officers, urging them to perform their duties with dedication and integrity. Outstanding recruits were felicitated for their achievements during training.
Participation and Acknowledgments
The ceremony was attended by senior police and security officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti. Families of the recruits, members of the District Development Council, local legislators, and prominent citizens also witnessed the event.
Director of the Udhampur Police Academy, Garib Dass, outlined the rigorous training program undertaken by the officers.
