January 22 (KINS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, the police have arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Budgam, and Handwara, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Boniyar intercepted a suspicious individual at a checkpoint established at Chak Limber, Boniyar. The suspect, identified as Gh Nabi Dar, son of the late Mohd Subhan and a resident of Babagail Limber, was found in possession of 50 grams of a contraband substance resembling charas.
In Budgam, a police team from Police Station Chadoora intercepted a suspicious vehicle (Maruti 800) with registration number JK01H-8720 near Higher Secondary School Chadoora. The vehicle, driven by Sajad Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Gopalsaif Dedmaribagh Chadoora, contained a polythene bag with approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas-like narcotic substances. The vehicle used in the crime was seized.
In Handwara, a police team from Police Station Handwara intercepted Khalid Bashir Lone, son of Bashir Ahmed Lone and a resident of Kahipora Kralgund, at a checkpoint in Chotipora. During a personal search, 100.46 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
All suspects have been arrested, and cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at their respective police stations. Investigations are underway.
Police urge the public to report any drug-related activities or crimes by contacting their nearest police establishment or dialing 112. Community cooperation is essential in curbing the drug menace, and the police are committed to taking stringent action against criminals as per the law.(KINS)
