LMD recovers 4.25 lacs fine, books 174 erring traders


Srinagar, Dec 01 (KINS): The field executives of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) have recovered a penal sum of Rs. 4.25 lacs from the erring traders and booked 174 others during 2699 market inspections conducted in the month of November, 2020.
These erring traders were fined and booked for violating Legal Metrology Laws. In addition to this, over 8000 commercial weights and measures were standardized in the Inspectorate Laboratories for which a stamping fee of Rs. 4.87 lacs was also collected.
Besides these, the department also received 133 public complaints related to non-transfer of subsidy amount on cooking-gas, short-weighment, use of non-standard weights and measures etc.
Meanwhile, the department has informed consumers to register their genuine complaints on toll free number: 1800-180-7114 in case any unscrupulous commercial establishment indulges in short-weighment/short-measurement/over-charging on packed products/use of false weight or measure offers for sale any packed product without label/smudging of MRP.(KINS)
