J&K Govt announces 3% hike in DA for pensioners

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Jan 27 (KINS): The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced a 3% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government pensioners and family pensioners. The revised rate will take effect from July 1, 2024, as per Government Order No. 23-F of 2025 issued by the Finance Department.

“The DA, which was previously 50% of the basic pension or family pension, has now been raised to 53%. The arrears for the additional installment of DA from July 2024 to December 2024 will be paid in cash in February 2025. From January 2025 onwards, the revised DA will form a part of the monthly pension or family pension,” the order reads a copy of which lies with news agency KINS.

The government has clarified that any fraction of DA amounting to 50 paisa or more will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while fractions below 50 paisa will be ignored. Other rules and regulations concerning the grant of DA, including provisions for re-employed pensioners or those drawing more than one pension, will continue to apply.

The decision follows the Council of Ministers’ approval on January 20, 2025, and is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of pensioners across the union territory. (KINS)
